This fundraising appeal comes
from Johanna's parents. All donations will go directly and in full to the
Zimmermann family.
Since Johanna's parents
currently need all their strength to care for and support their daughter, I,
Mirjam Dück, Johanna's aunt, created this thriveluzern account on her behalf
and am supporting her with the organization.
Our daughter Johanna
is fighting against cancer
Our daughter Johanna, 10 years
old, is a cheerful, lively girl. She loves school, her friends, and anything
that involves movement: sports, cycling, and playing outdoors.
On December 8, 2025, our lives
changed drastically: Johanna was diagnosed with
cancer (rhabdomyosarcoma). Since then, nothing has
been the same. Our daily life consists of doctor's appointments, hospital
stays, worries, and fears.
The tumor is located on
Johanna's leg and makes walking and running extremely difficult for her.
Furthermore, the cancer has already spread to her groin and abdomen. This makes
the illness particularly severe and the treatment very intensive. Johanna faces
a long and grueling period of chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation therapy,
accompanied by severe physical and emotional side effects.
Johanna is receiving
so-called very-high-risk chemotherapy , the most intensive form
of chemotherapy used for particularly aggressive and advanced cancers. It
involves extremely strong drugs in very high doses and is associated with
significant side effects and considerable physical strain.
What weighs most heavily on her
is the loss of her carefree childhood everyday life: school, friends and free
play are currently impossible.
Despite everything, Johanna
shows incredible courage and admirable strength every day. She fights bravely
even on days when she almost loses all her strength. As parents, we try to give
her support and security while also coping with this exceptional situation.
In addition to the emotional
strain, there are significant additional costs: trips to clinics, extended
stays, therapies, assistive devices, medications, and items that are not
covered or only partially covered by health insurance. Johanna may also require
support and assistive devices in the long term.
We want to consciously use the
times when Johanna is feeling better for small moments of joy that give her
strength, hope and happiness: a trip, a visit to the cinema, time together as a
family or a heartfelt wish.
What the donations will be used
for:
• Support with therapy and
additional costs
• Financing of necessary aids
and therapies
• Enabling small, beautiful
experiences despite illness
• Securing future support for
Johanna
Every donation, no matter the
amount, helps us greatly. It provides relief, hope, and the feeling of not
being alone during this difficult time.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I
shall not want.” (Psalm 23)
We thank you from the bottom of
our hearts for every bit of support, compassion, and prayer.
